Who's Doing in the planning ?


Who's Doing in the planning ? - As explained in the first blog of this series, the responsibility for the preparation and execution of plans throughout the organization is on the chief executive officer (CEO), or anyone who was assigned as decision makers key of your organization, senior management team, including heads the main departments, one or two key advisory staff, as well as anyone which will guide the planning process. 

All managers and key employees provide input for decision-making process of senior team, and certainly just need to prepare a plan of support for their own units. You, as president of the unit, it is necessary to determine the appropriate place for you and with once you develop your own plan. Let's look at each of the following roles. 

  • CEO must demonstrate strong leadership if the plan should developed and implemented properly. Among other responsibilities, the CEO must ensure that the plan supports the strategic plan organizational and functional rintas planning occurs. planning should be focused on cross-functional issues such as profitability, product development new, customer service, and employee development. Har is sometimes requires the CEO to be "wise dictator" to ensure that decisions made and the process is not stalled.

  • Responsibility for the planning process facilitator may be performed by planning coordinator, trainer / facilitator of internal or external, and / or internal planning staff members. These responsibilities could include activities such as : 


  1. Designing or modifying the planning process
  2. Train / educate managers involved in the planning process
  3. Helping the course of planning meetings
  4. Establish and monitor the planning schedule
  5. Coordinate and handle the logistics of planning meetings


Documenting and sharing records of planning meetings and the plan itself  if you are middle managers, you are responsible for the preparation, (Coordination, and implementation plans in each unit under your supervision and responsibility to ensure that the unit plans that support the organization's overall plan. In  addition, you as a middle manager responsible for translating high-level plans for all units under your supervision. 

If you are a first-line managers, whose duties may include operations of one particular person, you will also develop your own plan. Following the process described in this blog. Once again, remember that the concept of the President of the unit applies regardless of your position in the management hierarchy.
